I’ve always been fascinated by what actually happens inside a chrysalis. When I was a kid, teachers would just say, “the caterpillar turns into mush and then becomes a butterfly,” which sounded like a fairy tale explanation more than real science. I know the process is called metamorphosis, but I’ve been wondering how those cells know exactly what to become—wings, legs, antennae this website.
